Third eyelid showing !

Post by alfie&ronniesmum »

I have just noticed that ronnies third eyelid is slightly showing in his right eye, its blue at the top and red at the bottom if you make him look up to the right it doesn't look bulging or swollen, he doesn't have any discharge apart from a slight clear tear and doesn't seem affected by the bright light, he will let you poke around the eye and doesn't seem to sore. I believe the third eyelid comes up if the dog had had trauma to eye I've googled it and read lots of horrible things so I am now panicking.

has anyone come across this ? and Do I rush him to the vets or leave him a couple of days to see if it resolves its self ?

If the dog isn't pawing at it or blinking a lot, the eye isn't red nor weeping copiously, if it isn't gunky nor swollen / half shut I would bathe it in boiled, cooled salt water and wait and see but if you are worried about it then your vet is considerably better qualified than I, especially as he can see it. :)

Why not just phone the vet for advice, save you worrying.
