I did try Nikwax leather/fabric spray on some boots that had both but was not impressed but I did find out afterwards a lot of it on the market is counterfeit and I did get it from EBay.
The only jacket I have that never leaks is my Prudery shooting jacket. So it can be done.

Not the spray, get the wax, it's in a tub with a screw lid, sport wax it's called...

I was given a new pair of waterproof shiny leather walking boots what’s the best reasonably priced water proofer/conditioner I can use on them?

Depends whether they have a wateproof & breathable membrane in them.

If they do, then I use some of the more fancy Meindl or Nikwak proofers regularly which will waterproof whilst still allowing the leather to breathe.

If they don't, or it's old and knackered then the best stuff I have used was Grangers G Wax. My old boots with the knackered gore-tex get Dubbin after every full day out because I have heaps of it. Makes the boots leass breathable/more sweaty though. When I finally get to the end of the Dubbin I'll go back to Grangers but only for the old boots.

Treating the leather makes the boots last longer, us poor Brits can't afford to chuck away our boots when the leather cracks after one season.

Just started using Nikwax cream last year, so far seem better than the G-wax, time will tell.

I'm rather disappointed that nobody has suggested salmon oil - it seems a cure-all for everything else.
