Yes Naj, she has spunk in that clip. Perhaps the handling is what distracts and interferes with seeing the dog.

His obvious enthusiasm for what is relatively bog standard gundog work does make me smile. :-D

Who is the sire of the pups you are looking at?

Blackjaw, the sire is "Fast Track Skyland's Ranger Ranger". I'll try to get the pedigree up on both dogs.

Newf, she looks pretty nice to me. I agree she may not be amongst the fastest most stylish springers I have seen but I know where you live. She won't have beautiful sweeping grasslands or manicured estates to hunt. She will have to hunt heavy bush and thick cover. I prefer a bit slower and more controlled dog in that environment anyway. It looks like she has a nice close natural range which always makes things easier.

If you will provide the owners address I would like to send him a whistle....

Maybe the man was a bit nervous though ? Most people change their ways a little bit when they know they being filmed.

I would second the idea of a toller for you, newf, but afeared there's nobody out there to give a first nomination. But, like CC said (in a non-threatening way, presumably ;) ), "I know where you live." So, hey, why not think national and go global with your gundog choice? A toller then?

I'd have sent him a decent dog.

I didn't watch much but found the dog very pedestrian, not good head carriage or tail action. Seemed to lack any sort of enthusiasm. Of course only my opinion and depends what you're after, perhaps ok as a shooting companion you don't have to think much about but I'd rather enjoy watching a hard going dog with the shooting being a by product.

Each to their own though!

the tail carriage really doesn't do it for me either. It's horses for courses I guess though. Looking at the proposed sire he may but a bit more fire in as he has some Hellfire dogs in his bitch line. Angela's dogs are usually goers.

On a different note, is it usual to hunt dogs in that harness getup over there?
cheers,
Alice.
