teeth cleaning

Eze has got plaque build up on her teeth we have tried her on various chewy sticks and denty sticks but she isn't interested in them. I cant see her letting us brush them so any ideas welcome.
Is this a common thing and is there something the vet can do like a doggie version of seeing a dental hygienist"?

Have you been a naughty boy ips? Sneaking back on with another account? You should of at least changed the dogs name or gone with I have a friend with a problem I see from the second post you might not be ips, well my apologies and welcome to the forum. I'm sure ips will be along directly and congratulate you on having chosen a great name for your dog
As I feed raw I don't have a plaque problem with any of my dogs pearly whites, they are sodding sharp though. I still find those `dental sticks' amusing, as three dogs back I did in a moment of curiosity buy some. They went down the throat hardly touching the teeth
I would recommend beef ribs bones or any substantial uncooked bone that the dog has to chew and gnaw at post feeding, as it increases saliva and works free any food debris clinging to the tooth, naturally. I know there will be someone saying there are dangers blah blah blah But my hyaena goes through 3 ribs and a knuckle bone a week, and I'm talking `eats' without issue ( the odd vomit of a bit she shouldn't of swallowed usually in the middle of the room when I have company not withstanding )

I buy lamb ribs from the supermarket, one each for the Cockers weekly seems to keep the plaque at bay.

I always get compliments from the Vet on my dogs teeth. All I do is keep them supplied with genuine Nylabones of the hard tough type. They are always nawing away at them and seem to work wonders. They are fairly expensive but do last months.

My cocker Charlie and springer Edge have to hide away somewhere when my wife gives our dogs dentasticks. Ghillie the lab eats hers in two or three quick chomps and swallows and then eats the other dogs sticks too.
Labs, if they are chewers, are bloomin good at it. I have seen a lab reduce a galvanised metal drinking bucket to shreds overnight and the average kitchen table's wooden legs are no problem at all for a lab.

Whoever it was they wont be posting here again. I suspect there would have been some kind of link added to their first post in a day or two. Different Country to the one the dog training adverts originate from but a Troll / Spammer for sure. Thanks for the heads up Ips - try and spot it sooner next time!
