Puppy Jabs

Picking up the new pup next week.

Can anyone remind me what jabs they need as puppies and at what ages / weeks apart?

I’m good mates with the breeder, he don’t do the first jabs with his vet anyone as many vets say they use different vaccines now and say they have to be started over anyway.

Our vets said this to us before so we appreciate it.


Current pup hasn’t started any jabs yet, will pickup at 8 weeks on the Saturday and can take for 1st jab on Monday.

Can anyone advise?

My Vet is any time after 8 weeks for the first one so I take my pups within a couple of days of getting them, health check and first jab. Second is 2 weeks later then keep the pup in for a further week or ten days, can't remember exactly which.

My partner phoned the vet we use earlier. I told her to ring them and ask the score, vet nurse said something along the lines of they do "L2 / L4 but they recommend L4 ... distemper... and the usual stuff. they do jabs at 10 and 14 weeks, dogs can go out a week after the 10 week jab but need to avoid water for a bit longer ... £55".

I thought why they not doing one at 8 weeks ... unless they think pups already had jabs.

There's two options - two injections of core and lepto 2 weeks apart , first one as soon as she arrives. Keep pup away from unvaccinated dogs until 7 days after the second injection.

Or one core at ten weeks + (will still need two lepto injections two-four weeks apart). leaving you keeping pup away from unvaccinated dogs until 13 weeks or older

Some vets do it early and some later as there is some immunity from the Mother, still in the pup until about 11 or so, weeks of age.
