Trekmoor

Post by cuda »

I’ve been informed by Dale (the soup dragon) that Trekmoor, Wullie, Bill, sadly passed in the early hours of this morning.

Over the years, he put a serious dent in my extensive stock of tea bags, kept McVities afloat singlehanded, and we filled more than a few ashtrays together.

We spent countless time discussing and putting to rights the gundog world ( at least in our heads), spent numerous hours talking about the fish we’d lost ( never the ones we caught), but mostly, and above all else we laughed - the type of laughing where your side aches and tears roll down your face as you fight to breath.
He could be a cantankerous “auld sod”, had an outrageous sense of humour and revelled in being brutally honest when critiquing you and your dog ( but mostly you), but, he was a good friend AND, more importantly (for him) he was an out and out, good old fashioned “dog man”

No doubt the world will be a quieter, more sensible, slightly less bonkers place without him but it has lost a font of gundog knowledge and I for one will miss him greatly.

Rest easy pal !

Terrible news, poor bugger hasn't been well for a long time. A true dog man in every sense, it was always good chatting with Bill and he will be missed by a lot more people than he most likely realised.
Thoughts now go to his family, I hope they can look back over his life and remember some of his great stories and antics to help bring a smile in sad times.
If it was easy it wouldn't be so much fun.

Knew it was coming, but still an absolute gutter to read.

I tried to tell him how much people 'out there' in Internet world appreciated him on a few occasions but I don't know that I ever really got my point across fully enough.

Rest in eternal paradise big man.
cheers,
Alice.

Like Alice said, I’ve been expecting it but still so very sad to read it. RIP Bill - you were a legend xx

I've been away from the forum for awhile now. This is awful news. I always looked forward to Wullie's posts and he was always so helpful when I started on my gun dog journey. RIP Bill, you were a good one.
