I’ve been shooting for around 12 years and spend most of my time wildfowling, rough shooting and more recently getting into deer stalking. Alongside that, I’ve got an 8 year old Labrador that I trained myself, with some help from a local pet gundog training group. I was probably a bit too keen introducing him to game and he made his first retrieve at just 11 months old on a Canada goose. He’s turned into a very capable and hard hunting dog, although he’s always had a stubborn and headstrong streak and still has a habit of running in now and then. As a young dog he could definitely be a handful, but he’s been a great companion and working dog over the years.
