Taking a break

Post by PRH »

Hello,

Since the end of the season I've not been doing much with the youngster - just a 2 or 3 short session a week, but we have had some cracking sessions - sharp on the stop whistle, taking direction nicely and generally being on the money. Has anyone else got experience of less is more / a break being really beneficial?

Cheers,

Paul

Quite often you hear on the forum....."Less is more" or "Little and often" :)

And i totally agree with the little and often...its working for me :-D

I'm hoping that's true. Rosie's just come into heat in the last few days and I think a complete break in training for the duration will be just what we need at the moment.
Don't think she could have timed it better.
But I find it very strange being out without a dog. I'm a bit 'lost' now....too much time on me hands  and my Weimer can only go for ten mins at a time now cos he's an OAP

I sometimes introduce a two week break in a young dogs training. I find that the dog comes back into training refreshed and keen to learn.
It works wonders!
