Researching a pedigree!
I'm doing a little research on my bitches pedigree and was wondering if anyone had heard of any of these dogs?Mailscot mac bullace, rosebay crawford and flassview redeemer.
also why do the kennel club not add FTW's on to a pedigree?

Is your bitch bred Mailscot Mac Bullace x Flassview Redeemer by any chance? She'll be coming up 2 in may?
All I'm able to tell you about them from MyKC is that neither have any trial awards. Rosebay Crawford does though, he has attained his studbook number so has something (as does Somerset Shirley, Flassview Redeemer's mother.)

Why not contact Mike Smith at Mailscot? He wrote Working Springers and Cockers - a training book but also has loads of info on various kennels. The website hasn't been updated for a while but I was in contact in 2010, so worth a try.

Re: Researching a pedigree!
Mailscot Mac Bulace is my dog. Rosebay Crawford belongs to Pete Barker. I whelped the litter your bitch is from, she was 1 of 13!! I gave the bitch back to her owner when the pups were 8 weeks old and all except about four were lost to parvo
after one was taken to the vets. I kept a bitch but sold her at about 6 months of age as I was over dogged at the time, I wish I kept her, turned out a really good bitch, typical!! The dam was a big bitch but very soft and lacked drive but can really find game and is sound, her litter sister won her novice and was placed in opens before being sold. Another survivor, taken from here before they got parvo at the owners vets, comes beating/picking up for me and is a fantastic working bitch but lacks pace for trials but who cares! One bitch went to Cheshire, maybe yours? was fast and stylish but a bit noisy in the kennel, not while working though and was passed on to someone else. The father is a big, strong, hard going dog with style to spare and as good a dog on a runner as I've had in 30 years and I rate him highly.

it's a small world isn't it! it does sound like i have that bitch! she's a lovely dog very soft natured but she has a lovely style when hunting! I use her for beating not into trailing yet! she's as steady as a rock and the most honest dog i've ever had handle's well and a nice retriever. with another season under her belt i think she'll be a cracker!
Re: Researching a pedigree!
Rosebay Crawford was a FTW, winning his first time out, he then got 2nd place in his first open and never ran again to due handlers situation.
He sadly and suddendly passed away last year. My mate shot over him ever since he was a pup and said he was the real deal and stayed honest until his last day. He used him on his OFTW bitch which has IMO produced the best youngster ive ever seen, better than owt ive got albeit that isnt hard.
I know of a few others by him too, he went under the radar as his owner never advertised him at stud. Shame.
