Feeding 10 month lab
My lab is on a raw diet he's 10 month old and weighs 67.4 lb. I feed him 1lb in morning then 1/2 lb at night .Would you say that's the right amount of food for him .
Re: Feeding 10 month lab
how is he looking condition wise.i always go by eye if they look like the need more feed more.also if the ribs are just covered by a thin layer of fat is usually sufficient.

I always feed the smaller portion in the morning and the bigger portion in the evening.

I feed twice 50:50 but I feed dry, I know some people who feed only in the morning though.
Re: Feeding 10 month lab
I'd feed a 10 month old dog once a day but I guess that there's no reason why you shouldn't feed more times a day. Feed to condition. I like to keep my dogs lean, especially the young ones, & at 10 months they'd be too active to be carrying any fat in any event.

I feed raw, and feed twice a day, but I give less in the morning than the evening.
I feed by eye, I like them just to have a covering over the ribs, mine are spaniels though.

Whatever you choose to feed your dog don't be led by theory and feeding guides. If he's getting thin, feed him more. If he's getting fat, feed him less. Ideally his ribs should just be visible and his hips should not be sticking up like a malnourished carthorse. I feed mine to keep them lean and like to give them a good double feed gorge about twice a month. It's not entirely necessary to feed twice a day at that age, but certainly at a year he should be fed once a day.
