I've done this compilation of my cocker girl doing a bit of work. This was her first season and she has matured so much, and learnt to be more of a team player I think. Hope you enjoy.

Interesting and good video, something I must do too.
Just a quick question, on that runner at 3 mins you keep trying to handle her off of her mark. I was always taught to get the dog to fall area so it can take a line. At 140 yds how do you know which way it ran

What you can't see in the video was a large bold area. I saw the bird run left across the bare area and back into the sugar beet. When there is only one bird down and its a runner I agree let the dog go to the mark and take it from there but when there was also at least one other bird in the area of the fall of the runner and you know the runner is no longer there, as well as the scent of a few coveys of partridge that were pushed off there back into game crop earlier that morning I thought it better to avoid that area so not to let a dog pick the wrong bird, or waste time searching old scent and lose the runner.

I spotted on mykc that your little dog is by the same sire as my pup. Mine is only 6 months but is a brilliant little thing. I will have a proper look at the video tonight.
I assume in general your pretty happy with her ?

Yes first cocker I've had. Don't know if it's just mine but what I would change about her is the little bit of stubborness she has. When she wants to hunt, she hunts. Looking back I think I should have not introduced her to hunting/quartering till she was 11-12months old and just focussed on her retrieving and handling. There is only one apporach with her and that is relaxed because she either will or she won't there is no middle ground with her.
Having said that, she's a cracking retriever, handles well, hunts like mad-beautiful to watch, hard into cover, hell of a nose and she has no faults. I'll be pupping her to keep one back anyway.

Re: Video of my little cocker
Thanks Rab. She is nice. I have some footage of her hunting, I just need to work out how to edit the footage down properly without it being one long clip. The reason I have managed to get these picking up vids is because I can press start and stop at the right times when we are out. I'm working on it though. It's only take me 12months to get this far.
Thank you for your compliments, she is a lovely little thing. Glad you enjoyed it.
