Cold start to 2016

Post by Cass »

Battled snow and sleet on Lake Ontario this morning. Hunting was tough and ducks weren't decoying but we managed 5. Tough day hunting is better than not hunting at all.

He is fairly dry in that picture as we had just returned home (a 45 min drive from where we were hunting) before I took it. He was plenty wet hunting hahahaha. Yes, today marks the last day of duck season and there is quite a bit of ice. We have had to hunt big water (Lake Ontario) as the small lakes are all froze over now. He's a hard charger, he's had to break ice on many occasions to retrieve ducks late season. Pretty tough little cocker. Here's a pic from late 2014 on one such day. This was also on Lake Ontario, and you can see even being on a Great Lake, there is plenty of ice and snow.
