Black and white field trial studs

Post by vicky payne »

I may breed Rumer again...I fancy a B/W stud dog. Preferably with some FT awards, and obviously health tested. Been having a look about but there is scarce little. The few I like are too closely related to Ru for my liking. Anything up and coming?

I'd rather not. In most part due to the popular sire risk, but also as that mating would be over 10% COI - not the be all and end all, but I would rather be looking at under 6 and I would only consider a higher COI mating if I have places to go in the next generation. All the B/W studs I've researched so far give a COI of 7.7-10+%, which really makes me worry for the future of the breed. There's more choice if I go L/W, but still I keep coming back to C.Art, which I would prefer not to double up on, at least not without some very different stuff in there too. I guess this is the problem, the good sires produce the next lot of good studs and our pool gets ever smaller...
I have my eye on a foreign dog too....but taking a bitch to Europe to mate....stress!!!!

For a stud outside of the UK I understand the Kennel Club will permit AI. Why not nip over for some chilled fresh semen and leave Rumer at home?

Good idea. Especially as she's not that into mating!
