Cars/trucks for transporting dogs

Post by danpippa »

What cars/trucks do you have for transporting your dogs, would you recommend it?

I have 3 Labs and 1 Terrier at the moment, I am looking for something that can go off road, around shoots etc.

I have previously had a Jimny but found the on road drive awful, although was super off road.

Thanks in advance.

Toyota HiLux: canopy with sliding windows and well-ventilated Lintran box ... excellent in every way!

Depends very much on what you like. Best us to have a custom setup that carries all your kit. I use a Toyota Landcruiser for extended trips that is customised to my spec and suits me and my dogs perfectly. Carries all my kit, and my dogs love it.

I've got a Subaru Outback. Good enough off road and fab on road. If I put a tailgate in instead of the crate I have I'd easily get four dogs in the back.

Outback here too, I love driving it on road, handles really well and is good off road on grass / muddy tracks type driving.

Iv'e got a VW Tiguan - Great little car, gets me around my shoot and got me up some tough mountainside the other day at a trial....the lads laughed and told me id never get up in it........got up without an hitch. Permanant 4 wheel drive with an offroad button.

Got an old lintran in the back, enough room for 4 dogs easy

Ahhh can't believe I forgot the old reliable Scooby. Maybe cos I've still blocked mine from my memory as it's too painful to think about
