My Irish bred springer has a lot of Monalue "blood" on dam's side.
Can anyone tell me anything about the Monalue line as I would be very interested not having heard of them before. According to the pedigree there were a few champions incuding an Irish championship winner.
Hoping some of you knowledgeable lot can help.

Thanks Paul
Found the article very interesting. The emphasis on "hunting" dogs possibly explains my dog's hard hunting traits together with having Bramble Taff as his paternal grandsire. I've certainly got a cover basher!

Re: Monalue Springers
I own, trial and shoot over several Monalue spaniels. The best I had. The general quality of the dogs I got from Mr Kelleher was far superior than what I bought in the UK. At least for what I want from them = Hunting. I bought several dogs from diffrent lines in the Uk and nothing was up to the standard. If you like more info on the Monalue's feel free to ask.
Re: Monalue Springers
monalue springers were certainly amongst the hardest hunting line of springers here in ireland.their drive in cold ground with minimum game was hard to equal.here in western ireland where game is scarce and woodcock is the main quarry the monalue springer fitted the bill.all the spaniels that i and a few of my shooting friends keep are line bred monalues.monalue springers competed at the highest level and won two irish championships,in 1991 with monalue mint and in 1998 with monalue elderberry lady.as we say here in ireland"ni bheidh a leithead ann aris"(their likes will not be here again)
