Taking advantage of prey drive

I havent read the other responses yet, but I am a massive fan of Push Feeding. Not sure how it works but it really does turn the dog onto you - I also encourage all dogs to play tug games with me.

I have read the book, and enjoyed it, but I do find Behan a tad narcissistic tbh. A friend of mine has met him in person and he is a bit wierd by all accounts.

Push Feeding is one of Kevin Behans main techniques for harnessing the prey drive - as is tug.

It would probably be easier to google his website than for me to try and explain here - ideally you need someone to demonstrate it actually as it is quite hard to get your head around in print.

I've got to admit it had me fascinated. Maybe it's the ultimate interaction between dog and human to build trust?

Ha ha I love this thread. I'm getting to be an old geezer as my daughter keeps reminding me, but nowhere near as old as Mr Wullie! You wouldn't believe some of the academic b*****ks I have studied over the years. Ok with nuts and bolts science: anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, pathology, biomechanics, sports science etc. but when you get into psychology of humans and other animals you walk into a land populated by pseudo-scientists, crystal-wavers and peddlers of dietary supplements.

From what I can gather, The Push Feeding Technique can be explained in terms of simple Learning Theory...

You are associating physical touch with food, so that eventually the dog that is not keen on interacting with you and your physical touch comes to 'want' to be touched and will push into you.

Can't see any mysticism here, just simple association.
