Re: Fuel cost
We had our end of season shoot dinner on Saturday and our subs aren't changing this season. They went up last season to cover replacing the quad so there is an inbuilt buffer this season. The shoot captain is an accountant so in the budget he has allowed for significant price increases. Fortunately we know what we will pay per poult and we have x tonnes of feed locked in too. We have slightly dropped the number of birds overall too, which obviously helps with costs.
Re: Fuel cost
In fairness DIY syndicates have never been cheap if done properly and you take into account the hours of work to run a successful shoot. I came to the conclusion years ago that a farm knockabout is fine, and I have one, but for any volume of game a far better use of my time is going to work to pay for days. That said the cost of shooting, as with everything else you care to mention, will be up by a significant margin this year.ips wrote: ↑Tue Mar 15, 2022 9:00 am Flaming Eck....we are now locally up to £9.90 a gallondid a calculation for how much my syndicate will cost this season taking into account subs (obviously) fuel for shoot days and work days, (shoot is a 90 mile round trip) cartridges etc......the end result and cost per bird going off our usual bag is staggering
DiY syndicates are cheap at first glance but not in reality![]()

Muddling along in the hope that one day it starts to make sense.
